چکیده
First reported more than 250 years ago by Patin who describe it as “turning into wood” (1), Fibrodysplasia (Myositis) Ossificans Progressiva (FOP) is a rare autosomal dominant disorder (approximately 1 in 1.6 million worldwide) marked by post-natal progressive heterotropic ossification (HO) of soft tissue including tendons, ligaments, fascia and muscle (1). Despite all the great advances in science and technology over the past two centuries, little is known about the genetics and molecular biology of the disease and as such, definitive treatment remains just out of grasp. Ultimately, scientists hope to cure this debilitating and horrific disease.

White matter integrity and lack of insight in schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder.
OBJECTIVE Poor insight into illness is commonly associated with schizophrenia and has implications for the clinical outcome of the disease. A better understanding of the neurobiology of these insight deficits may help the development of new treatments targeting insight. Despite the importance of this issue, the neural correlates of insight deficits in schizophrenia remain poorly understood. M...
متن کاملAn axiomatic characterization of the prudent order preference function
In this paper, we are interested in a preference function that associates to a profile of linear orders the set of its corresponding prudent orders. We will introduce axioms that will restrict the set of linear orders to the set of prudent orders. By slightly adapting these axioms, the prudent order preference function can be fully characterized.
متن کاملThe enumeration of prudent polygons by area and its unusual asymptotics
Prudent walks are special self-avoiding walks that never take a step towards an already occupied site, and k-sided prudent walks (with k = 1, 2, 3, 4) are, in essence, only allowed to grow along k directions. Prudent polygons are prudent walks that return to a point adjacent to their starting point. Prudent walks and polygons have been previously enumerated by length and perimeter (Bousquet-Mél...
متن کاملExact solution of two classes of prudent polygons
Prudent walks are self-avoiding walks on a lattice which never step into the direction of an already occupied vertex. We study the closed version of these walks, called prudent polygons, where the last vertex of the walk is adjacent to its first one. More precisely, we give the half-perimeter generating functions of two subclasses of prudent polygons on the square lattice, which turn out to be ...
متن کاملThe effects of behavioral and outcome feedback on prudent decision-making under conditions of present and future uncertainty
One of the largest reasons decision-makers make bad decisions (act imprudently) is that the world is full of uncertainty, we feel uncertain about the consequences of our actions. Participants played a repeated game in which decisions were made under various types of uncertainty (either no uncertainty, uncertainty about the present consequences of behaviors, uncertainty about the future conseque...
